@Jared Viernes thank you. There was a listing agent but I think his role was just to put property on market. Otherwise my realtor was talking to seller directly.

@Account Closed thank you for your input I appreciate it. I had a contractor came out and found the problem and I believe it should be a easy fix. All I wanted to know was how seller could've missed this being a contractor himself and thought it was a bit sketchy. Thanks again.

@Rick Santasiere I contacted my agent who is trying to get in touch with seller's agent. I doubt anything will come out of it. But it's a lesson learned. My house was a flip done by a contractor so I guess apart of me was kinda hoping for honesty.

As you already know I am new in the REI world but I have values and morals and I pride myself in being honest with clients. It's just really sad, I would never do that to someone and I firmly believe he knew about it.

@Account Closed thanks. But I don't see how that applies if it wasn't in disclosure. You can't expect someone who is not familiar with a particular process to practice caveat emptor principle. It is the sellers responsibility to practice real estate business ethically and honestly. I wouldn't have been this pissed if seller was honest at least I know what I'm getting myself into. But I will contact seller and lawyer and see. I believe with all my heart seller knew though.

@Jim D. thanks for your input

hi everyone. So my husband and I just bought a house. We just moved in on Sunday. Today there's heavy rain and as a result the basement is flooded! This was not in our disclosure, there's been lots of heavy rainfall for couple months and I think seller knew about it. When we went to look at house the basement was painted one color (sky blue) when we bought gr house and went to do final walk through I noticed there were dabs of dark blue paint all over the floors. I questioned this but shrug it off as nothing. Now I'm starting to think that was done to hide discoloration in the floors from water damage. I am located in CT, is there any laws that would help us with this where we can go back to seller to fix problems?

@Paul Bowers thanks! Good way to look at it. I'm just amazed that people aren't willing to help others anymore. What about the notion that if you succeed, I succeed. I promise I will break that cycle. Thanks again!
