New house, basement flooded!!!
hi everyone. So my husband and I just bought a house. We just moved in on Sunday. Today there's heavy rain and as a result the basement is flooded! This was not in our disclosure, there's been lots of heavy rainfall for couple months and I think seller knew about it. When we went to look at house the basement was painted one color (sky blue) when we bought gr house and went to do final walk through I noticed there were dabs of dark blue paint all over the floors. I questioned this but shrug it off as nothing. Now I'm starting to think that was done to hide discoloration in the floors from water damage. I am located in CT, is there any laws that would help us with this where we can go back to seller to fix problems?

Oh no, that's terrible. I suppose the first thing you need to do is take photos of everything you think may be important to prove the seller was hiding something. Second, you obviously need to figure out where the water is coming from, and whether it's a one-time event or a source that would clearly be recurring. If it's a recurring source that the previous owner clearly would have encountered, you should have a pretty good case.
I don't know what the next steps are legally speaking, so hopefully someone else can chime in.
