Hi Joel Owens, thanks for responding.

I'm not sure of how you may have taken my post, but everyone has to start from somewhere, right? From what I understand there are these "mills" that you speak of, that do just as you say, use an agent for their personal contacts and once those dry up, it does end up wrapping up a young agents career, due to lack of motivation or whatever else.

That's why I have structured my question the way that I did. And that's also why I've also made the point to mention what steps I have taken, and are planning to take to help me achieve my personal goal. I have been working while going to school this time, and have no days off. I'm fine with that. I don't mind working. And school, will be a temporary situation in the large scheme of things. (It's a part of the master plan :) ). I really hope my words aren't coming off wrong as I write this, because communicating over the internet about something I'm passionate about, can come across wrong.

But by the way you have structured your response is as if I should choose whatever broker wants to keep me, as though being a new agent means having little worth. Please help me understand because I don't think my initial post was haughty nor arrogant. I feel it is a legitimate concern to make sure that you start your business not only making the brokerage money, but to also to start your business off onto the track that you want to go.

Is it not fair to say that the broker/agent relationship is a two way street?

Thanks guys for responding! I thought my post was getting missed! lol

But Edward Hamill, how familiar are you with the firm? I really don't want to start off my career on the wrong path, and so I want to insure that I do my best to find the right broker that fits me and my future goals. Being that there are so many brokerage firms in Atlanta, I really would like to know what distinguishes them all. So that's why I was asking what questions should I ask, and what red flags, if any, should I look to avoid???

Hey everyone!! I'm back with new questions!! So... I'm super excited about what my life as a real estate developer will be, but at this time I'm still taking the initial steps to get there. I am set to graduate with my Associates in Commercial Construction Project Management in May, and I'm currently taking my real estate classes online. Well I hope to be done with those classes by the end of June, and being the planner I am, I'm thinking about my next step after that! ☺️

So I will be in the Atlanta area and really want to work with a broker who will push me to the potential I see myself reaching. I want experience with handling higher priced projects and homes and I also want to make sure that the company I work with is A1 in the ethics department. I'll be starting back school in Fall for architecture and will need flexibility as well. So what questions should I ask potential brokers? What are some red flags to look out for?

What do you all think??? I really appreciate y'all in Advance!!

Thanks so much everyone for all of your responses! I really appreciate it! Now I have a few questions:

@Bryan Vincent Am I up under the correct impression that you have another job along with RE as a means for supporting yourself as you go through school? And does this mean you dont have time for other things such as FAMILY?

@James Propeck Do you feel as though you were extended too thinly at the time that you decided to embark in RE? And do you feel as though the 2008 downturn, ultimately killed your initial dream? Im looking to see if there are things I can refrain from considering when making this choice because no matter what, Ill start the RE classes within the next couple of days and hope to be able to tie some loose ends afterwards. I just want to be thouroughly prepared, you know?

@Phil Earley What youre saying is putting me a little more at ease. I guess I need to do a little more research as far as what all types of FLEXIBLE jobs I can have with a RE license as well. To me its anot about, flash... Its more about fufilling my ultimate goal and becoming a master of the field in whatever way I can. Money is a necessity and therefore something I HAVE to make, especially living in Atlanta, so whatever way I can make enough money, gain the necessary knowledge, and gain much needed experience, I am ALL for it!

Hi @Melissa Gittens Thanks so much for responding!

I dont mind putting in the work. Like right now I work as a waitress while going to school... And in order to accomplish what I need to in Atlanta, I will need an substantial boost in income. Do you know if brokers work with part-timers? or if I can REALLY make an income? Im totally willing to put in whatever work is neccesary.

Hey Guys! Im not sure if yall remember me, but a while ago, I was looking into wholesaling as a means to jump into real estate investment. And since that time I have taken steps to get better acclamated with the field through means of education.

As of this Summer, I will be completely done with my Associates in Construction Project Management, and have decided to further my education in Architecture in the Fall! I am super excited about this because I think this aligns completely with my dream in designing and developing Real Estate!

But here is the thing.... In order for me to go to school, I would need to relocate back up to the Atlanta area, and will need an income that is lucrative and flexible enough to sustain a living AND allow me to focus on school, and so thats when REAL ESTATE came to mind!

What do you guys think? Is this possible to make a living with real estate PART TIME? What tips would you give to someone in my position? I am a single mother trying to build an empire and a legacy for my daughter.... What do you suggest???
