I found a beautiful plot of land in northern Kentucky with an amazing view of the city, this question is super generic and depends on a lot of factors but: how much does it cost to build a 3 story 5000sq ft building that's not a killer for insurance with balconies?! Does anyone have any success building like this? I know the big companies usually swoop up this kind of land and offer custom homes but I think a nice apartment building could work I'm just not sure about the math. Any other advice?!

That makes sense. Thanks Daniel. Looks like I have a choice to make. Jason I hear what you're saying and I completely agree. The reason I am doing both is because I need extra income on top of my rental income. I only have one buy and hold so far so my cash flow to buy more properties is limited from that source. I also only have one unit to manage because I house hacked with an FHA loan. I plan to focus on insurance for a few years to build a nice client base and maybe do a flip or another buy and hold with a partner. Thanks for the food for thought and advice guys.

Thanks for answering that though. I just wanted to make sure! Have you found it beneficial being an insurance agent as well as investor? I have heard a lot about being a real estate agent and an investor but not as much with insurance agents.

I am becoming a 3rd party insurance agent. Is it a conflict of interest or is their any legal liabilities involved in insuring your own investments? Thanks!

I have been in sales for 3 years now. I am making the switch over to being a third party insurance agent in about a month to give myself some more freedom. Can anyone please tell me the pros and cons of being an insurance agent and an investor of mainly buy and hold properties? (plan to do a flip or two as well). Is their any legal liabilities I should watch for when insuring my own properties? (one duplex at the moment, but another coming in 6 months or so). Thanks for your time reading!
