Welcome @Account Closed! I am also from Chicago. Seems we have similar goals. This site has been extremely helpful. I am obsessed with the podcasts and have already made some great connections here. You are in the right place.

Best of luck to you :)

As a newbie on here, I see both sides. However, why post a success story if you do not want to be questioned? I've seen a lot of this of this site, many complaints about people asking questions or for help from more senior investors. I thought that was the mission of this website is to learn from each other, help and network.

Is there really a threat here? Honestly? I'm sure you're smart enough to realize who to give your time to and who not, just like any role in your life. I've seen at least 3 posts like this since I joined. Extremely negative.

Hi, as a former tenant myself and now becoming a landlord, I think 600's is a fair credit score for renters. But I do not think the credit score is the question as much as the income. Wife is making 20k a year and husband, new job, commission only? Why would they ever consider a 2900 monthly rent? I'm unfamiliar with the area and current market. I'm in the Chicagoland area.  Overall in my opinion seems like you should pass on them.

Yuliya Palonskaya I'm currently researching properties on the northwest side of Chicago but I'm also very interested in Oak Park and definitely Forest Park, good schools, nice neighborhoods. I've been just using the mls for those suburbs, doesn't seem too high. Good luck to you :)

Thanks for the support @Mark Wilton and @William Brown :)

I 've been reading, researching for years. My father is a real estate agent and his wife invests in property along his side. I have been dragging my feet for years. I get scared and nervous. Sometimes the reading and research kills my motivation.to learn.  I am here for information, support and to of course learn as much as I can. Thank you, cannot wait to ACT instead of just talk.

Jeff Wallenius thank you so much for the advice. I am so nervous. We'll see how it goes. I've just started looking at properties.

Hi Everyone, Very excited to have been referred to this site. I am from Chicago, IL. I have been interested in real estate investment for a few years now but haven't made any moves yet. I do not have a background in the field...Yet :) I am interested in acquiring rental properties and flipping single family homes. Multifamily has peeked my interest but that can be down the line. I have put myself in a place to make my first purchase. I came here to learn as much as I absolutely can and cannot wait to share my experiences as I move through this new journey.  Best of luck to everyone!
