@Val Peare  -- Hi Val - which group is this?  The past 4-5 years there have been some that get traction, they die off, some still hanging on etc.

Do you or anyone else have a list or links to the active ones in Wichita right now?  The only one I know of is the Wichita Real Estate Investors association which I think is ran by Recil Robinson and someone named Jonny and Crissy something.  That is the one that has ebbed and flowed as far as Ive seen.

I do not trust this new "friend" that is helping him, I believe this couple is stealing money from him and that is why they want to keep him in the apartment instead of convincing him it is time to go into assisted living.  The social worker from APS agrees there is something fishy with this couple but he hasn't been able to figure it out.  So, with that being said, can I tell this woman and her husband they cannot have keys to the house?

If you know where he banks at you could perhaps call the bank and report your concerns.  In KS anyways the banks have a law/regulation in place that it is their "DUTY" to report suspected elder abuse/Financial abuse to the appropriate authorities.

I'd really think though that the way to help him would be through APS - at least in KS they have the ability to help someone the most in a situation like this -- but I'm thinking it can take  a while as it's jut not easy to deem someone incompetent to handle their own affairs etc.  Too bad he doesnt have any family that could help him.

Pitney Bowes bought the patent several years ago and shelved it. I miss having all my mail scanned and PDF'd to me

There's still Earth Class Mail and a family owned company in Texas. They're not hard to find.

I checked out Earthclass mail a while ago - they seem reputable enough however the 4-5 or more other competitors I found in this same space when comparing pricewise they are multiple times more expensive per month - the only advantage I can find with them is they will automatically deposit checks for you which at this time is not a service I need or want.  Their fee per check deposit is a little high if you ask me.  (No one did ha - free opinion)

What did Pitney Bowes buy the patent for?

I signed up for a free trial with PostScan mail or something like that - their HQ is in CA and you have addresses to choose from across the US (I'm guessing other businesses like a mailboxes etc or maybe a ups store franchisee can signup as one of their partners) - we shall see how it goes - have to get a form notarized and sent back to them then they can start receiving some of our mail.

My goal is to have only items sent there that I want scanned - say bills for example - then the bills can be auto emailed to our bill pay system we use.  Trying to automate menial tasks.  I've also got a good potential local applicant I can have work in house and take over bookkeeping and could do this scanning - she actually retired from my old employer and her/I worked together for a few years - she knows nothing about bookkeeping but I think can be taught - plan on meeting her for coffee this week.  Decisions decisions.

You could call Adult protective services - every state is different - I'm sure NY has some sort of department like that.

Bookkeeper has not been doing this as agreed which is why i'm looking for a new bookkeeper among a couple other things - new ones I've talked to are very apprehensive it seems to want to undertake this as well.

Hi there,

I've been researching a virtual mailbox service that can receive then scan in my mail into PDF form.

I'm wanting to be nearly paperless at our business and am to an extent.  I still get some vendors that mail me paper invoices or have our accountant/bookkeeper scan in documents however at this time I outsource my bookkeeping and I'm guessing they despise scanning as much as I do as they normally do not do it and I have to micromanage it to make sure bills get paid timely.  Pisses me off which is why I'm switching bookkeepers and secondly will be likely buying this type of service.

I figured Id have regular bills I know are coming sent to this "virtual" address - not all of our mail - maybe 10-20 pieces of mail a month if that would need to be scanned.

Also does anyone use a receipt scanning service?  I found one called shoebox but seemed kind of expensive.  Other suggestion was keep all records in quickbooks then keep receipts in a folder for record keeping purposes and not worry about scanning them in.

I've thought about hiring admin work in house but I think I'm just too small for it to make sense at this point - I dont know I may change my mind and try to get a part time in house bookkeeper that can run payroll/keep the books but I'm just leery about that until I can afford to pay someone very well in this position and get the best talent I can.

TIA!

@William Joseph -- also William you are getting a lot of bad advice - you do not have to "register" guns in your name - there is not "gun registration" -- Depending on what is there you could be sitting on a few hundred dollars or thousands of dollars depending on the firearm.  If some of the ammo is old - some of it (mainly the boxes/packaging they came in) can be very collectible to folks and they'll pay good money for it.

I just glanced at a summary of the regs for CT - basically the same as KS with a few more restrictions but not much different.  Reach back out to me and I'd be glad to help - the folks replying above seem to have "0" experience in the buying/selling of firearms and have never used or owned them.
