Hi @Jordan Matanane, the easiest way to start is by working for/with someone else who already has the structure in place. If you are able to generate leads for other wholesalers, investors, builders, etc. they would be more than willing to compensate you for that. This way you can get your feet wet with what the typical conversations you are going to have with sellers and other people in the business.

When you get to the point of doing it yourself, it is very important that you have a RE attorney draft the proper documents for you as well as have a title/escrow company that understands off-market real estate.

@Alexander Seiz lets connect. I purchase all my deals off-market, directly from the owner. Tacoma and Seattle are tough areas to go direct to seller as owners are getting several solicitations every week. It comes down to a numbers game and landing it at the perfect time.

@Laura MacDonald I work with a great title and escrow team at Old Republic if you're still looking for references. Send me a message and I can provide you their contact info.

@Alina Trigub@Alec A., Thanks for reaching out. For the past two years, I have been apart of a small, entrepreneurial real estate investment and development company. We wholesale, fix n flip, buy and hold multifamily, and do new construction development. It has been great for me as I have learned so much by just being thrown into the fire. As opposed to working for a large company and cold calling all day. It turned out to to be the perfect fit for me to continue to learn as much as possible and even get into investing myself.

My advice would be to continue to read the forums, listen to the podcasts, and find someone already doing it, and see how you can help them.

Hello Bigger Pockets members,

I have been a member of Bigger Pockets for about six months now and have finally decided to post to the forums. I just recently graduated with my MBA in Finance and thought I would go to bigger pockets to seek some advice. Before I get to my question, I think a short story of my journey to bigger pocket might help how you respond.

I was referred to Bigger Pockets by a friend of mine who told me to listen to a Bigger Pockets podcast. From that moment, I have been hooked. I began to read everything I could about real estate investing through books, articles, blogs, etc. I came to the conclusion, that I need to start investing and buy my first property.

I am just out of college and am looking for a job. I'm seeking a W2 income that will eventually support my real estate investing endeavors. As I am continuing to learn about REI, I figured why not get a job in the Real Estate Industry where I can learn the industry and build connections.

My question to you all is this: What is the best way to get into the industry that will help me become a better investor? Is it being an agent, is it working for a developer, is it working for a bank on the mortgage side? In other words, how do I break into the industry?

Any thoughts, suggestions, or personal stories would be so helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Seth Heck
