Quote from @Jared Fisher:

Can anyone share investor meetups that meet in Jersey City, NJ or close by?

This one is pretty good. Let me know if you need a Realtor. I serve Northern NJ, focusing on Hudson County.

Hi Giancarlo,

First of all, welcome to BP. This is truly an amazing community that will get you the information you need.

I'm also based out of Jersey City with an office in Hoboken, am passionate about RE investing, and am a Realtor on a top real estate team in New Jersey.

I'll send you a DM to grab a coffee.

@Chris Toler Looking back at how I did things, I wish I purchased my first property at a younger age. Hoboken and Jersey City are uniquely positioned for growth and have a great rental history.

You can do a lot with the capital you currently have. My recommendation would be to start with a condo or multi-family. My most recent clients purchased a $680k single family home in the Jersey City Heights with 5% down and a 2.5% interest rate.

They plan to live in it for about a year and move on to their next property keeping it as a rental in the future.

Give me a call if you have any questions.

@Ayana Morali I’m on New York Ave. and we had a similar issue. It’s a 6-unit building and we were getting a mysterious leak through the back wall of our unit.

Like many of the roof and siding jobs in Hudson County, the deck builders botched the flashing under the siding and attached the deck directly to the back of the building instead of an intermediary material.

We recently had the siding and flashing redone and that has solved the mystery for now.

I’m happy to pass along our contractor if you need a contact.

@Enrique Kratz

I love it. Great restaurants and bars, the best view of NYC from the waterfront, great access to transportation, including a 15 min drive to Newark Airport (once we do that again).

@Enrique Kratz I highly recommend taking the PATH train to Hoboken or Grove Street in Jersey City.

I chose the Jersey City Heights when I was in your spot and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. It has multiple coffee shops and bakeries within minutes of us along with a variety of restaurants.

The bars are limited but there are enough in Hoboken to make up for it.

@Namit S. As a real estate agent that works across all of NJ, I can confirm that this is the best site to get tax information.

After I have the owner’s information on a specific property I will typically do a reverse lookup on white pages to get their phone number to try to make a deal for my clients.

@Kabir Wolly Congratulations on getting everything together completing all of your due diligence. The 2 family house hack is a tried and true method.

I’m a Jersey City resident and this is a great place to start your multi-family journey.

I’m also a local Realtor and can help you find the right home if you need.

I’d be happy to meet for a coffee to talk about real estate investing.

Wishing you all the best.
