Tiny homes, Ottawa Street redevelopment propelled by CIP grants

Tiny homes, additional dwelling units, and basement apartments look to be the next wave of investment across Ontario as land becomes increasingly expensive and hard to find. Investors may want to focus on purchasing properties with the option of adding additional dwelling units at some point in the future.

180M People Could Be Looking for Homes in Coming Years

EXPERTS PREDICT THAT MANY MORE MILLENNIALS, WHO ALREADY COMPRISE THE MAJORITY OF THE HOME-BUYING POPULATION, WILL BECOME HOMEBUYERS IN THE COMING YEARS.

The US, like Canada, is experiencing a significant shortage in housing that will likely take a decade or more to clear up. This makes the US a prim investment option for international investors.

Landlords say tenants will pay if city proceeds with rental licensing regime

LOCAL LANDLORDS ARE WARNING A RENTAL LICENSING SYSTEM WOULD HAVE DIRE CONSEQUENCES FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR TENANTS, WHILE DOING NOTHING ABOUT THE UNSAFE LIVING CONDITIONS IT’S MEANT TO ERADICATE.

Another foray of government into private businesses will end up costing the poor and middle class more than anything.

Landlords will always pass costs on to the consumer while the poor and middle class continue to blame the rich for not being able to get ahead in life, it's really government policy that impacts them more than anything.

Windsor company unable to attract new employees — and they aren't alone

There are plenty of jobs available in Windsor right now for those who want to work. According to Statistics Canada, there are 165,900 people employed in Windsor-Essex. That is 30,500 more people than in May 2020.

Though benefits like CERB are keeping many on the job sidelines, local employers are ready to hire thousands of willing workers.

Is bureaucracy responsible for housing affordability woes?

In short...yes. Canada's ever-growing, ever-power hungry government continues to stifle development with level upon level of government bureaucracy. As we all know, government agencies are highly inefficient. This heavy bureaucracy is one of, if not the biggest, driver of housing affordability woes across the country.

The government under Liberal leadership is not getting smaller or more efficient any time soon, so expect these woes to continue. As an investor, when an asset is in short supply, I want to own that asset.

CMHC REPORTS A 42 PER CENT INCREASE IN HOUSING STARTS IN WINDSOR-ESSEX

The problem with all the new housing starts is that they are necessarily at top end prices due to expensive land costs, material bottlenecks, and building costs. As new built homes become more expensive, that also makes resale homes more expensive. Overall, the fundamental problem of lack of affordable housing continues to persist with no real solution in sight; this makes me want to own as much real estate in Canada as possible.

Construction boom leads to shortage of workers

Hard to bring supply up to match demand when there is a shortage of labour, materials, and land mixed with heavy bureaucracy, taxation, and stringent building codes!

The Bank of Canada maintained its target overnight rate at its effective lower bound of 0.25%

For those waiting for rates to rise and crash the market, you're going to have to wait quite a bit longer.
