Not sure about Raleigh, but here in Chicago you do have to be very careful of posting up any signs in certain areas. The consequences can be very costly. You may want to check with the city, county or village of the areas of interest.

Please let us know the outcome. I'm curious if the same rules apply in another city/state.

Good luck :)

Well, I can definitely relate. I had to make a decision yrs ago when I took on a new job with a major bank & the conflict of interest. I chose to give up my broker's license because that was during the time when the industry was "running it's declining" course. I needed the job in order to maintain & provide for my family. So, with that being said, it really depends on your needs. There's no price on accomplishing something you've put your heart & soul into. Would you prefer to move forward with your plans? Or, give up your dream for someone else's. If you can withstand financially in the beginning of your own company, I say stick to your plans. Obtaining a brokers license is hard work. But, it's hard work for YOU! Then again, as you mentioned, you can give up the license & focus on another area in Real Estate. Good thing about RE is that there's so many ways to make money. You can wholesale, invest or both without a license.

@Pattie Thomas From my personal experience, Cook County is the most difficult of them all and can take some getting used to. There are some real "sharks" down there with lots of cash, they have the funds to "clean up shop" and can bid all day long. Start by getting a feel for the process/atmosphere, and DEFINITELY NETWORK. Also, be prepared to arrive with a large lump some of money in certified funds in case you come across multiple winning bids. There is a risk of purchasing blindly, but you should be ok if you do your due diligence on the property/properties of your interest prior to bidding. Lastly, if you walk out empty handed the first time or two, please don't get discouraged. Keep trying. Once you get in, your in. Let the crowd see your face on a regular basis. It can be difficult at first, but if you have the patience, your experience could be very rewarding.

@Rick McCray you HAVE to make time for yourself. Working out, meditation or just quiet time for YOU. In our industry it's so easy to become overwhelmed and stressed out. Get plenty of sleep and make time for you, even if it's just complete silence with a good book.

@Wayne Brooks Just a-b closing where B is using their funds only. Or even both. (For future reference)

Well, right now Chicago and the surrounding areas. The company you sent me is located right in the middle. Perfect!

@Jefferson Kim Well first off, congrats! That's a big accomplishment. Secondly, although I'm located in Illinois, the primary steps you have listed are the first and most important. I would assume this would be for any state where a license is required. I firmly believe the time length would all depend on you & how quickly you act. Regards to the registration of your license and forming the entity of the business, this process shouldn't take more than a couple of days.

@Aroldo Villarreal I completely understand what you're feeling. It's so difficult to decipher one program/training, etc from the next especially when starting out. One of those "learning experiences" people in our industry go thru. In the meantime, as a few others have stated, get what you can out of the program and whatever you do get, try to implement the knowledge into your future strategies. You'll be fine. Could have been a lot worse. Chin up :)
