I would love to connect with other Christian real estate investors and hear how you do (or plan to) use real estate investing as a way to bring God glory. Hopefully we can all be an encouragement to each other.

My husband and I are just beginning our real estate journey but our hope is to use real estate investing as a way to free up time so we have the freedom to be more involved in ministry opportunities. We would also like to be able to give extravagantly to those who need it.

House hacking is when you buy a property to live in, as well as rent out part of it. This can be done by buying a single-family house and having roommates, or buying a multi-family property (duplex, triplex, or fourplex), living in one unit, and then renting out the others. The advantage is that your renters/roommates end up paying all (or a lot) of your mortgage. It helps reduce your housing expenses and helps pay down your mortgage. Hope that helps!

@Wayne Brooks I’m not looking for an easy way out or trying to be deceptive. I’m getting this advice directly from podcasts and articles by the founders of BiggerPockets. I’ve heard them recommend this several times.

@Gaetano Ciambriello hi! We’re not sure yet. We’re still trying to gauge which are the best neighborhoods with the best deals, but probably somewhere on the north side.

Hi,

Just wanted to introduce myself. My family and I live in San Antonio, TX and are looking to really start building our real estate portfolio via house hacking a small multi-unit here. We're looking forward to meeting others in our community and beyond who are traveling this road as well.

I've heard other real estate investors suggest that you not tell your tenants that you're the owner and only refer to yourself as the property manager when interacting with the tenants. I plan to househack, so this feels doubly important (to protect my privacy more). But how will this work when my name will be listed on the lease as landlord? Is my only option to create an LLC and put all leases under the name of the LLC?
