Coronavirus has just begun spreading through California from an "unknown" origin. Maybe now the skeptics will start worrying about it. https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/27...

@Karl B. @Dennis M.It's not the actual danger of the virus but the fear it generates that we as investors need to be concerned about.

Due to world-wide media attention, the epidemic will have long-lasting effects on the global tourism industry. Those with vacation rentals will see a considerable decrease in the income they're making. There might even be an increase in demand for single-family homes as people start to become more conscious about catching a disease from others.

@Account Closed @Ray R.Very interesting information. I've listed some thoughts below and would appreciate any input.

Based on the statistics provided by ZeroHedge, we can expect the economy in China to continue to nosedive for the foreseeable future. This might force many Chinese investors to liquidate properties they own in the US. [Potential opportunity?]

Asian communities in the US will also be impacted as racial tensions resurface. I don't know how bad it'll be but we can assume that properties in these areas will see a decrease in value. [Time to buy?]

@RayR. Do you have a source for these claims? I'd like to know more about them.

    Hello BIggerPockets,

I started this discussion to get some thoughts and opinions on how the Coronavirus might affect the housing market. Mainstream media has been reporting about it nonstop for the last few days, stating that there's just been the first case of person-to-person transmission on US soil. Anything investors should be worried about or need to look out for? Thanks.

I'd appreciate any advice on which investor-friendly banks/credit unions would be best to build a relationship with. I heard that I should completely avoid national and stay local, but I'm not sure what other criteria I should be using for my search. Also, is online banking a viable alternative? Thanks!
