Hello to all!
My name is Sam and I am from Covina, CA; I currently have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I work at a community college assisting students that are new, on academic probation, foster youth, and/ or those who simply need resources and guidance. I also am involved with my church: a part of my focus is to develop leadership in the youth band as well as a young adult band. Though I have no ties with real estate, I have been curious about real estate at various points in my life and the successful individuals in my life in one way or another seemed to be involved in RE. I stumbled upon Bigger Pockets 2 months ago through a Financial Literacy blog that I follow and have been an avid listener to the podcasts, which led to peaking my interest in RE investing. I thought REI was only for wealthy individuals, but as I listened to the podcasts, read the UBG, and some of the blogs here, my former paradigm was shattered!
Other than having exposure to BP, I do not have any experience but I hope to get my feet wet by taking some basic classes at a local community college and purchasing my first duplex or multiplex. I hope to utilize the BRRRR strategy to eventually own a larger apartment complex and/ or mobile home park. With that said, I'd like to share 2 of my desires.
Desire 1: Once I am financially able, I hope to house and care for the less fortunate, namely widows and orphans.
Desire 2: I envision growing fruits trees and vegetation in the properties I own in the future (does anyone know if there is a health code violation?/ I am hoping this would allow for more of a communal feel for those that reside).
Thank you to all who've made it to this point! Your words of advice, constructive criticism, and/ or comments would be greatly appreciated!
