@Lee Hampton Thank you for the insight. I didn't know that.

Hi Lee,

Thank you for your feedback! I called the City of Houston and they told me that there weren't any ordinances that would restricting me from building a duplex on the property, as long as there isn't any deed restriction stating so. What is a good contact number to verify this information?

You mentioned a small guest house. Is 400 sqft the maximum you can build as according to the city codes? From my understanding is that you can build up to 900 sqft detached building.

Thanks!

Hello BP,

We just recently acquired a lot (3000 sqft) in Houston, TX. We're thinking about building a stacked duplex on it. (Please give me some feedback if you think a lot of that size is too small for a stacked duplex). We're looking around for some builders who are specialized in multi-family projects. Any suggestions?

Hi BP,

My family and I have been in a restaurant business for almost a decade. As my parents getting older, we're been looking at ventures that are more passive. So recently we started looking into REI. Our area of interest is the neighborhood around the University of Houston. We found a vacant lot that is 5000 sqft - perhaps we can fit 2 duplexes on it(?). What are the processes involved in building a duplex from ground here? Also what do you say the cost per sqft for a 1500 sqft duplex with mid-range finish?

Thank you,
Sam

Hi Michael Jones,

I’m looking to gain wealth through real estate. My goal is to build a real estate portfolio that generates passive income, while allows me to keep my daytime job.

I graduated from the University of Houston.

Hi all,

I'm a recent college grad who interested in REI, however, I don't know much about it, and would love to get started. I've read and watched videos on how to get started, but the information is very generic and doesn't apply to real estate in Texas. I'm currently living in Waco right now. I heard the market here isn't doing great right now. What are your thoughts on Waco and its surrounding cities.

Thanks!
