I know the real estate industry is growing exponentially...
However, I want to be able to understand from real experienced agents what are the steps and requirements that is expected in this field?
I feel like competition is not a problem only because I have so much self motivation to excel in everything that I do.
Is it a great career to grow? develop skills? and make money?
Oh Yeah! Love This Question!
This is an awesome question! As a Broker and a Realtor®/Investor with 19 years experience I can certainly give you some insight on what generally is required to be successful which is what I assume your question implies.
In my opinion, (for whatever that's worth), being a Realtor® is the absolute best thing you can do for your investment career.
The "Steps and Requirements that are expected in this field" is the easiest to answer. Aside from the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics, there really are no "steps and requirements" other than what is required by your State to become licensed.
After licensure, there are very few expectations of agents. In terms of productivity, or effectiveness. That's why it's so easy to stand out! So many are so bad!
Competition Deadlier Than You Think...
The next issue you mentioned was that "Competition won't be a problem because you have so much self motivation..." I love that attitude!
The reason why I love that attitude is because it is very empowering! I also have that attitude. After spending over $98,000 confirmed dollars to the Mike Ferry Organization to be professionally trained as a salesperson, there is very little I fear from customers, and competition.
It is my guess, there is someone just like me in your marketplace. They feel just like you do. They don't feel competition will be a problem because they are also highly motivated and excel at everything they do. Like me, perhaps they have taken extreme measures to learn how to sell.
While you may have a feeling that competition will not be a problem due to your motivation and your ability to excel at everything you do, you may be well advised to remember that there are those Investors in your market, who are well trained, highly motivated, and are relentlessly good at what they do.
Unless you know what to do, or how to do it... what to say, or when to say it.... then your competitor, who is also highly motivated, and excel at what they do... who has taken the time to learn what to do, what to say, and when... will unfortunately....
Slaughter you every time. Good Motivation... or not.
Sorry. That's just being real.
A Good Career? Skills and Money!
You see, this is where I can clearly see that you will definitely win at the "Game of Real Estate!"
You can clearly make the distinction as Investing as a career (i.e. a lifetime occupation) and the relationship between Skills and Money.
Too often, I see new wholesalers, new Realtors® and newer investors going out to "do battle" with the pro's with great intentions, and a few hundred bucks to throw at mailings.
I think of it like playing the NFL if you are on a weekend tag football team for your IT Office.
If you could imagine it... you have no skills, no training, no conditioning to operate at a high level with the big boys in your town.
If you want to survive multiple scrimmages, you need to learn how to take a hit, and keep coming back for more.
Otherwise, you quickly quit playing.
That's why skills training is so important, and inevitably leads to money!
That's why I know you will make it. It's because you can see clearly the relationship between the two!
Is it tough? Yes. Is it hard? You bet. Is it gonna require everything of you? Of course.
Will you want to quit? Only if you are sane. Will you meet hardships? At every turn.
Will you win? That depends on you... The odds are stacked against you. Only 1 agent out of ten survives 5 years.
However... if you want it bad enough... there is nothing that can stand in the way of a made up mind.
Have a Powerful Sales Day!
