The fastest way to save money is always to not have any recurring monthly debt looming overhead. If all your debts are paid, your money can really begin to add up then go to work for you. I think it was mentioned once before on this thread, but one option for smaller investing smaller amounts of capital would be real estate crowdfunding platforms; they allow you to invest smaller amounts of capital (generally $5,000+, but I'm sure you could do a little research and find smaller entry capital) into deals for a set percentage return (8%-15%).

Hey Akia,

Welcome to BP!

I am nowhere near Atlanta, so I can't speak towards where to start in or near your market, but I would really recommend taking a look at the "BRRR method". It is an awesome strategy for acquiring rentals and getting the snowball rolling! I'll leave the link below.

Hey Patrick, I live and work (construction) in the Seattle Metro and depending on the location your looking at, I may be able to help you out with finding some quality contractors. Shoot me a  private message if you would like to talk a little more.

I would highly recommend pulling it off and attaching it to the sheathing. If the existing siding is rotten, you could have problems with it staying secured and excess moisture later on. Make sure the existing moisture barrier is in good condition too.

Hello Bigger Pockets Nation!

All I can say is "wow!" I have been absolutely blown away with the wealth of information that BP has to offer. In the last week and a half, I have listened to 37 Podcasts, read countless articles, and purchased a few books recommended by many on the site!

A little about me: I am a 25 year old guy, happily married to a beautiful woman who just bore me my first child a little over two weeks ago. I have always had a level head on my shoulders when dealing with finances, and have always dreamt about investing one day, but having a child really kicked me into gear and made me decide that I needed to start moving. Our investing goal is to, one day, be financially independent and be able to quit my W2 job and become a full-fledged real estate investor, but we recognize that riches are not made over night and are hoping to cut our teeth on our first deal before the 2017 year is through.

My background is in construction and my wife is a work horse in her own right, so we are planning on doing most of whatever work is necessary to get started. We live in the Seattle Metro and are looking in that market, but it is currently way over-valued, so we are looking elsewhere as well.

I am so excited to be a part of the bigger pockets community!!
