From the contractor side, I've remodeled a few vacation rentals in the Bushkill/Stroudsburg area. Remodeled the Flooring, Tile Work, Cabinets, Painting, and anything that isn't considered structural. From the investor side, none yet. After meeting and learning a lot about it from the owners, I'd like to get into it as well.

@Henry Chan Wow, that's pretty much the same story. I moved up here in 2015 from NYC too, it was the best choice I've ever made. A couple of  friends of mine have airbnb's as well, and it worked out very well for them too. Thanks for the advice.

@Vinod Badami Yes it is, there are a lot of AirBnB homes up here and plenty of rentals. I used to live in Bushkill which isn't too far from Stroudsburg. It's one of the first stops in the Poconos coming from NYC, so tons of people travel up in the summer. I know a few landlords from my experience as a contractor and they all say they do very well with Vacation and/or Long-term rentals. Anywhere in Pike or Monroe county is a good place to start. Message me if you have any questions, I'd love to help.

Hello BP Community,

My name is Ron, and I am a general contractor in northeastern Pennsylvania/ NJ/ NYC who is looking into expanding into the real estate industry. Although I truly love what I do, my industry has many ups and downs and can be unpredictable. Real estate has always been an interest of mine and I have listened to the BP podcast for years also I've read many books on the topic but never actually jumped in. My goals for the future are to network and build many strong connections, own rental properties, flip houses for resale (seeming as my experience will help with the rehab process) and to make wholesale deals. With that being said, any help or advice would greatly be appreciated. Especially with the financial aspect of the business, as that is my weak spot. I would be happy to share my construction advice for those who are interested. Hope to hear from you guys soon!!
