Joe: I didn't, because I thought since it was part of the program it wasn't necessary. I suppose I learned the hard way, though they probably wouldn't have put it in writing.

Wayne: Yes, I'm sure it was just misdirection to get me to sell. I was underwater on the loan, so it's probably for the best anyway. I am free of the debt and any taxes for the balance. I just won't deal with the attorney or broker involved again.

I recently sold my house in a short sale through the HAFA program. I got behind because of a work injury and could not catch up. The attorney who represented me assured me I could get up to $3500 assistance with relocation, but when the sale closed he told me I would get nothing. I feel I was lied to because he had a broker associate who wanted to buy the house as an investment. Is there any recourse possible in this situation?
