I am also interested in Profit from Rentals, but concerned by the mixed feedback on this thread. Does anyone have a recommendation (based on personal experiences) for turn key operators in Chicago?

Saw this today. Do you have any connections at TMZ?

My partner is looking for a property manger for a 10-unit building in South Shore Chicago with the potential to take on management for several other properties in his portfolio. Any recommendations from fellow South Shore investors??

Any help you can provide me would be greatly appreciated!

Great turnout last night! As the picture illustrates, we brought BP to life in NYC.

I look forward to making this a monthly event and learning from the successes and setbacks of the group. I would like to suggest a Meet Up site for the group, so that we can easily network between each other, track local members, and meeting participation. Happy to help set-up once emails get circulated. We would still need to spread the word on BP to get new members involved. Thoughts?

@Glen Hotnit - welcome to BP! I am also a newbie and learning my way around the site. I am very interested in your mission. I currently live in NYC, but grew up in Olathe and have strong connections to the area. Today, I am interested in pursuing a buy and hold strategy in KC. A good friend has successfully invested in several section 8 properties in Chicago and has encouraged me to look into this strategy.

I hope to network with you to learn more about this type of investment strategy and get your read on the Kansas City market.

Thank you for the welcome @John Fossetti it is a simple tip but alas I am learning how important! This site has been useful in helping identify a number of tried and true marketing techniques.

Hi @Lauren Betancourt -

I am a fellow newbie located in NYC (live in Long Island City). I am also interested in learning more about wholesaling. LT I am very interested in the buy-and-hold strategy.

It looks like I will be out visiting properties in Chicago next week with a fellow investor, so I will likely miss the meet-up - but I look forward to connecting on BP or in person! I know wholesalers will be represented at the meeting and will have several great tips for you.

I agree it's a bit overwhelming, but you have found the right place to get started.

@David Jayne - thanks for the note. Look forward to bouncing ideas around w/r/t REI in KC.

@Paul Timmins I know foreign capital is prevalent in NYC, but would you recommend this for a newbie like myself? The high capital costs continue to worry me, but I open to see how the numbers stack up. Initially, I prefer the ability to acquire a few properties quickly as opposed to tying up too much capital / financing on my first deal. Further, I would expect to gain even more experience and diversification with this strategy. Thoughts? I think REIA clubs are an excellent recommendation!

@Pete Nater - see you soon. I look forward to learning more about your wholesale perspective.

Thanks for the welcome!

@Brandon Turner – I found BiggerPockets linked from your prior blog Real Estate In Your Twenties. I thought that was a gold mine and now it gets bigger and better. So much better - thank you for your service and focus on MF!

@Darren Sager and @Bill Sonzogni – It’s great hearing from people in the area. I look forward to meeting with you next week to dig deeper. It sounds like we will have some great newbie and experienced input. Bill, I’d love to chat further on Hyde Park – I have heard good things.

@Ray Orellano – I love your location. We are living opposite lives! I will send you a PM, I’d like to learn more about your work and possibly connect with some BP'ers when I’m in town next month.
