@Phil Z. It wasn't a locksmith who broke in but instead the preservation company employee who used a crowbar and forced his/her way in which caused all the damage.
@Chris Martin The bank did admit their mistake and issued a check for all the damage and my troubles. The guy who worked as a middle person between myself and Chase estimated that this happens 1 out of every 20 bank sales. I thought the number was pretty high and was surprised they don't have any controls in place to prevent it from happening that often.
As far as preventing it from happening in the future- I will call the preservation company and confirm that their service was turned off my the bank (assuming the number is taped to the window like it was this time).

@Trent Currie We shall see what Chase has to say in the next few days.
@Chris Martin Thank God they didn't clean me out. It seems like they just broke in and changed locks. I don't think anything else was missing but I am not 100 percent certain. I am going to give chase a few days to respond before I go making a police report. You would think with so many transactions they would have better controls over this type of mistake happening.

I bought my first REO property form Chase bank about a month ago. The locks I had installed on the property were destroyed and new locks installed with a key box attached to the handle 2 days ago. A white paper was attached to the front window advising to contact the preservation company or chase in case of an emergency.
I was able to get a hold of the preservation company that is handling the property and it turns out Chase never turned this service off with them. So when they came by on the monthly visit they couldn't get in so they broke in and changed the locks again. In the process the door was damaged as well as the jam and aluminum siding along the door.
The property preservation company has now turned the service off at my request. I am currently waiting for representatives from Chase bank to get back to me.
At the very least I feel they should pay for the new locks and damaged caused. Has anybody ever have this happen? What was the final outcome?
thanks
Rob

They will open credit cards up in your name and then turn into cash. I believe their fee for opening this credit on your behalf was around 6-8k depending how much they get you approved for. Your current credit card balances must be less than 50 percent utilized. I was pre approved but never went thru with the process. If they deliver on their promises than it may be a good deal. Your credit score will get dinged during the process though. Good luck!
