In contrast to the previous poster, I think it's a great idea to build out your support team in advance. In fact, the process and people will likely gain you additional wisdom that helps you better analyze potential investments.

What part of town are you planning to invest in?

If it helps, here is a list of SAT PM companies for which I received only positive recommendations in the past. I have not vetted any of these companies and am not making a specific recommendation.

  • Hendricks PM LLC
  • Larsen Properties
  • Liberty Management
  • Pyramis Company

@Gonz Trevino thanks for asking this question. We have a couple SFRs on the NW side. I've been managing them myself for a little while but may want to transition to having a manager. If you (or other BP members with property in SAT) would like to compare notes on PMs some time over coffee that would be great. I come down from Austin a couple times a month.

Welcome @Poem Turner. As others have mentioned, home prices in Austin are red hot. Unless you are betting on further appreciation, you might consider outlying areas. Like @Gonz Trevino I'm also a fan of Pflugerville and San Antonio.

@Joseph Lunstrum Welcome and congrats on your first rental!

@Jerry Birdsong I'd like to hear your advice on the SAT REIAs, if you're willing to share.
