No, it is a reasonably new home (2001) in a decent neighborhood (Cinco Ranch). I think there just may be competition that is lower priced.

I agree. I don't think buying something this expensive and big was the best ROI on my dollars, but there were some other idiosyncratic issues at play here.

We are asking for just under $2000 a month for rent.

@jonklaus I bought a single family home - 4 bedrooms 2400 sq ft in a decent but not great area of Katy. We've only owned it for a couple of weeks and have had a bunch of showings but only one application, which we rejected because we thought the tenant's situation was more risky. Hoping it will get reneted out in the next couple of months.

Hi, I'm Ethan and I'm from Katy (suburb of Houston), TX. I recently bought an investment property that I am trying to lease in the Katy area. I'm interested in meeting other folks in the area and learning more about real estate investing.

I am an attorney and have been investing in the financial markets for many years, so I know quite a bit about stocks, bonds, legal matters and taxes, but not much about real estate investing.

I also have two small kids and my wife is always looking for people with small kids for play-dates.
