I realize I'm late posting...

I go to UVA in Charlottesville and am looking to begin investing there. I'd like to get into the multi-unit student market.

I grew up in the Waynesboro/Staunton area and know them very well. I don't hear much about investing in Waynesboro but many people rent or fix and flip in Staunton- and do fairly well.

Hey Rob,

I'm moving back to Charlottesville in the Spring (for another semester at UVA).

I agree- cashflow is king.

When I get back to Charlottesville, I want to hit the ground running looking for passive income investments.

The reason real estate is so popular for many people is that you can do it remotely with the right team in place.

Al, do you believe there is a way to get started on remote owning and a property manager?

It seems like a pretty risky way to get started. What are your thought?

I do want to get into my own builds eventually. But I have no idea where to start with those.

Rehabs seem like a good way to learn my way into it- I've taken my weekend off work to go work for a guy who does rehabs in exchange for him showing me how he does things.

Thanks guys!

Getting a house and renting out rooms will probably be my first attempt.

As for @James Austin "figure out and end game and stick to it" that's my problem! I don't know what the best path to start with is. Eventually, I want to do my own builds, but that's certainly something I don't think I have the experience to do yet. Would you say rehab is the best way to get there?

thanks so much,

Quin

Hi guys,

I'm brand new to real estate investing.

I'm going to school in a college town that has a good market of both students (with big money parents), and a large local community.

As a 19 year old, I realized I can make a lot more money than I need to spend- when I'm not in school. I would really like to be able to manage my investments on the side as I go to school.

However, I'm getting overwhelmed with information about real estate. I don't know where to start.

Can anyone recommend a good strategy or type of asset that I can spend a lot of time learning about? Right now, I don't know how to chose.

Also, is anyone currently near Detroit, MI or Charlottesville, VA?

thanks so much, I really appreciate any advice!

Quin
