As I'm readying myself to purchase my first property this year, I'd like to know if it is common and highly recommended to have a general contractor to accompany me during a walk through of a property of interest to help in estimating repair/renovation costs? Thank you.

Hello everyone. I am seeking some recommendations for a CPA and real estate attorney in Maryland. I live in Baltimore county. Thanks!

@Harjeet Bhatti I am married and live with my husband. However, his name is on the deed - not mines. Would I be able to use an FHA loan as a first time home-buyer and live in the property for at least 12 months even though I'm married? Thanks so much!

@Chris Mason you seem to be well versed in FHA loans. I'm totally interested in obtaining my first property through an FHA loan. I am married and live with my husband (his name is on the deed). Would someone in my situation be able to use an FHA loan to purchase a property? I am prepared to live in the property for the required time-frame (at least 12 months). Thanks so much!

Hello all! I hope that I'm not going off topic, but I am very, very new to the real estate investing community. I'm interested in investing in a small multi-family unit (2 units) not too far from my home. Is it possible for me to apply for an FHA loan for the property to live in one unit and rent out the other? Secondly, I am currently married and living with my husband but I am willing to live in the investment property for the required FHA time frame?

Please advise. Thank you!
