I am buying my first rental property. I have no dept and my net worth is about 150K, and I would like to keep it that way. Questions are 1. Do I open an LLC to protect my personal assets? If something should happen I don't mind losing my LLC investment, but I would hate to lose my Net worth as well. If I open a LCC would it be a asset holding LLC, or a LLC rental management co, Or both a LLC holding co, and another LLC to manage? The other option, do I just buy a lot of, and a good insurance policy? Thanks to all in advance. I am glad I found this sight. Brian

Setting up a Meet up sounds good.  It sounds a lot better then driving 75 miles.  But all in all I probably will drive up there from time to time.  I would like to set up some kinda meet up.  anyone interested,  please reply or PM me.  Thanks Brian

I am also here in Springfield IL.  I live on the north end,  by the fair grounds.  Good luck with your endeavors,  and maybe we can talk sometime.  I haven't found a lot with the REA clubs here.  I just went to one in Champaign IL last week.  It was good, it was an hour and a half drive,  but good.

I would say 5 or 6 years I Googled RE clubs in central Illinois. There was a RE investment club there called CIIA (central illinois investment association) About three years ago It changed it's name to PMREIA. I think that means (Peoria Metro Real Estate investment club association). I am In Springfield so that is a little over an hour away. At first I went every month, then Life happened and I started going less and less. I still get some E-mails out of the blue from them. The problem is, Some of the E-mails I get from them is some trying to sell Purses or shoes. Sometimes there is Real Estate stuff in the E-mail. I just don't want to drive an hour for shoes. If you want to Email me or PM me with an E-mail address I will forward the E-mails I have. One of the last E-mails I received from them, was asking if someone would like to take over the RE club.

I should be able to free up my calendar.

I just got a Email from a Mike Herr From "Peoria Metro Real Estate Investors Assoc." Which is (PMREIA). His Email said that he has 3 2/1 houses for sale, one is rough. That tells me at least one guy is out there. Like I say before it seem like this group just fell off the face of the earth. Every now and then I will get an Email, Mainly for Hand bags. Today it was for real estate.

I am from Springfield IL. About 5-6 years ago I was looking for a REIA here in central Illinois. The closest I found was in Peoria. "[Peoria Metro Real Estate Investors Assoc.]" Was the name of it. Google it and you should be able to come up with their info. As far as the quality of the group when I was going, it was pretty good. But, being that it is over an hour away and money was tight for me at the time, I stopped going. Over the past several years I have gotten several Emails, from one member selling hand bags and other thing not RE related. Not sure what to tell you to expect. If you go let me know if it is a good quality REIA. Even though it is far away, I have thought about starting to go to their meeting again. Good Luck. Brian
