I am aware that turbotax has their own agents who can help. But is there a way that an independent tax consultant can help a tax filer via turbotax. I love the security (comparatively) and self service document and data entry nature of turbotax. However if an independent tax consultant has a feature to double check and make modifications that would be great. I would be more comfortable doing this with a consultant i know and have vetted rather than one that turbotax picks for me. Is there a way to do it (other than sharing password). and are there good tax consultants who will do it. If so, would love recommendation of such tax consultants in Austin area

thanks @Mike McCarthy and @Peter Philando for your comments. I played around with tenantcloud (webportal).. looks pretty well thought out and easy to use. Based on app store comments looks like their ios/andriod mobile apps still needs some work. If they improve on it, $9/month for a rental with ACH option looks very reasonable

Hi all,

I am a busy IT professional. My realtor would be helping in placing renters for my first local rental property. However for ongoing management, a full service property management company would be an overkill. I am looking for a platform that leverages technology heavily so that I can self-manage the property efficiently without much time commitment. Saw an older article (3 years ago) on BP comparing appfolio / buildium / cozy. Having experienced appfolio as a renter, I loved it but not sure about the pricing for small time landlords. Appreciate recent inputs on pricing and experiences from folks who just started out like me with 1 or 2 properties.

Update... i am in the process of closing on our second investment home. I was wrong that the main value she brought was just opening the lockbox. My realtor has been awesome.. i am totally impressed with her hardwork, due diligence and insight.  I really feel such realtors are really are hard to come by and worth every penny. For now, i am planning to skip getting a realtor license

I am looking for my second investment property with my realtor. I am happy with her services and will use her service for this property. Going forward I would like to have the flexibility to go look for properties myself. The main value the realtor is bringing is opening the lockbox for the properties. I would love to have access to properties without working out the schedule with another person. Is getting a real estate agent license myself, the only way to achieve this? How involved and expensive is getting a real estate agent license in Texas
