No immediate plans at the moment for an in-person meetup in Manhattan Beach.  We do have some in-person ones going on in Burbank, Long Beach, and Glendale.

I have been going to Rod Khleif's events for awhile now.  You'll meet people from a wide range of experience levels. If you have listened to Rod Khleif's podcast and his message resonates with you, then for you'll definitely find it worth going to his live events.

  • It's full of information all about the nuts and bolts around multifamily.
  • The personal growth aspects will challenge your mindset
  • Great speakers who come just to share their experience and answer questions

From these events I have created friendship, formed partnerships, and found investors.  All those reasons are why I continue to go.  Just this year I have closed two deals with people who attend these events.

I've been in Rod's small group for about 6 months up to this point.

I joined for 2 main reasons:

1. I was seeking an experienced mentor who I would personally interact with.

2.  I wanted to expand my network of like minded people.

I'm happy to say that both criteria have been met.  As a member of his group, he makes himself readily available.  He teaches/leads the discussions.  If you have questions, he will answer you directly (vs. moderators or coaching assistants).  Personally that is what I wanted, an active mentor.  Rod is an ACTIVE mentor, which takes a lot of time/energy.  The cherry on top is that he is always enthusiastic, and he truly seems to thrive off of helping and coaching others which is infectious.

People in the group are great, positive, and supporting.  Some have closed deals, others have deals under contract, and any progress (big or small) is celebrated.

Also, Rod's mentorship has a spiritual side.  If you are into positive affirmations, the Miracle Morning, Tony Robbins, etc. then you'll enjoy that aspect.  To me - that's a big plus.  I was just telling my friend today that I'm getting multi-family, high performance, and relationship mentoring all in one package!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Wow so many interesting points and great discussion.  Thank you all for responding.

I met with my manager today and told him that I am going to pass on the new job.  I followed my gut.  It wasn't easy because he recruited me to the company with the expectations that I would climb the corporate ladder as fast as possible and he was going to help me do that.

For me, it comes down to my current situation which is a great one for all the reasons I stated earlier.  Including the freedom to pursue real estate investing and I'm making good progress thus far.  I don't want the new job if it's going to hinder that progress, which I think it would.

Currently my day job is a great one, maybe even the best I've had.   Sure I'd like to make more money but it pays well, it's flexible, not a lot of stress, I'm good at it, the commute is easy (for Los Angeles), great benefits, all good things.  Best of all I have enough of a work-life balance to enjoy life, pursue real estate investing, and build an extraordinary future with my wife (real estate investing helps a lot too).

Well, I was just approached about a promotion at my day job. It would mean more hours and more stress, roughly $15-20k more a year, and a better career path.   The work-life balance would not be as balanced as it is now.

What would you do?

@Jasmyne M. at this point I decided not to use OPM to invest in SFRs.  It's doable but I figure if I'm going to raise OPM, I'm going to do it for larger multifamilies instead.

What's your situation?
