I am in the process of buying an 8-unit. Here are the terms I got: 25% down 4.875% for 5 years 25-year amortization Not sure how it compares to what other people get so interested in hearing what other people get for commercial deals. Patrick

West Milwaukee is fairly safe overall. You can find some really nice houses there. Just watch out for property taxes. They tend to be high compared to Milwaukee and West Allis.

Probably too late but I own a house in this neighborhood and I am very happy with it. No issues.

Milwaukee! Moved there from Los Angeles in 2011. Did not know what to expect and we ended up loving it.

Hello,

We are closing on property #10 this coming Friday and we just got #11 under contract ...

All exciting, except that when we close #11, we will have a total of 7 mortgages (1 for our house and 6 for investment properties) and my Credit Union told me they would 'only' go up to 10.

I have been doing some reading and it seems like after that, I would need to turn to 'portfolio lending'. Does anybody have experience with that? And could you recommend someone or a local bank I could talk to in the Milwaukee area?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Patrick

@Nathan Schoenborn Thank you for clarifying! Going to file tomorrow. Curious to see if people hire attorneys or do it on their own. I will look for a thread on the topic ...

@Dawn Anastasi I didn't know that you were not required to hire movers. That's good. What happens to the tenants' stuff when the Sheriff shows up to evict them?

Regarding the schools, yes, not all great but we did send our schools to public schools in Milwaukee and we were very happy. The first one, Milwaukee French Immersion School (52nd and North) and then Maryland Avenue Montessori School on the East Side. MPS is only of the few school systems to offer Montessori schools. These are usually private...

Hi Adam,

I usually work with my ex-employer's Credit Union (Baxter Credit Union). They are located in IL. I am not sure if you need to be employed by the company to be a member. Some local Credit Union in Milwaukee do not require you to be if I remember correctly. Maybe Focus?

Hope this helps.
