Thanks, Ned and Mark!

In general, I also have family in a town in TN. Do people recommend investing in an area far from where I live, but that I'm familiar with?

Cheers,

Piper

Thanks, Ned! Do you have preferred markets in the surrounding areas?

JR - I live in DC, but the market doesn't really interest me as a first-time investor.

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome. It's great to hear advice so quickly!

Brandon L - yes, I definitely want to hear about all kinds of stories and lessons learned. Thank you.

JR T - Hmm, I have thought about it, but don't want to invest in DC. I'm not opposed to surrounding areas, or my home state, since I know the markets for both of those areas.

Hi all, I'm a first-time real estate investor from the DC area. I've been self-educating by listening to BP podcasts and reading books. I'm interested in the buy and rent model, but I want to hear other investors' stories and experiences to learn more. While I live in the DC area, I'm interested in investing in less competitive markets (Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee).

I'm excited to learn by doing, so I welcome volunteer real estate analysis tasks you need help with.

Cheers.
