Post: Primary residence strategy

Hi everyone,

I live in San Diego. I own my primary residence and I am just getting started in real estate investing.

My parents are about to retire. They didn't save anything for retirement and will be living off SS checks. They owe 375000 on their home and its worth about 600000. I have been talking to them about buying their house for what they owe, selling my house and building a granny flat on their property for them to live in. I would be using the 100k from the sell of my house to build to granny flat. This plan would allow them to retire without worrying about so many bills. I then could get a HELOC and utilize that to begin my real estate investing plans.

I just want to ask everyone what they think of this plan?

Their home had burned down and rebuild in 2014. So the house is all brand new.

Does this sound good?

Hi,

My name is Philip Claessens and I'm from San Diego, Ca. Over the past couple of months, I have been educating myself on real estate investing and my goal for 2019 is to purchase my first property. I am a federal firefighter and my schedule allows me to have time off to focus on investing.

My wife and I own our primary residence now. I currently have about 120k in equity. And I have a HELOC I can utilize to make my first deal.

My goals are to make enough deals to retire early. I have 14 years and then I can retire with a government pension. I am open to investing anywhere in the country that makes sense. I just want to jump in and start learning.

If anyone has any tips or advice on getting started, I am all ears! I’m starting from very limited knowledge, however I'm eager to learn and looking forward to getting started!

Philip

I am located in San Diego. I am looking to buy a rental In Texas. This will be my first deal. I wanted to get in touch with a lender, real estate agent, and/or property management company. Any help would be great and I would love to do what I can to help others in someway.
