on a side note, I found it strange that some insurance companies require you to have your primary residence insured with them in order to be eligible for landlord insurance.  Do you know if that's the case with Lousielle or Cross?

I’m on the hunt for my first rental property. I have some decent cash savings, but I will need to take out a 401k loan to cover a chunk of the down payment. During the loan payback period (I’m targeting 3-5 years) the cash flow on the rental would be low because the monthly loan payments. Does anyone have experience with this and is it worth while to get low cash flow for those years ?

Here’s some numbers. $20,000 loan at 4.25% is $85/wk payment, which is about $368/month

I keep hearing real estate investors recommend going to a local bank to get a loan. Has anyone had success using any online lenders?
