I'm from MA and have been looking at Worcester very closely the past 6 months.  I think there's some good opportunities but you have to be patient.  Sellers and their agents are trying to capitalize on the relocation of the PawSox, acting like it will change the area overnight.  I think there's good long term potential but don't get caught up in all the hype.

Has anyone rented by the room rather than by the unit?  I'm considering buying a property near a university and can get much better cash flow if I rent by the room.  I know there are some pitfalls with this approach.  I'm curious if anyone has done this, what issues I should be aware of, and how you have handled things such damage to a common area that is not normal wear and tear and how you determined who pays for it?

Thanks.

Anyone have an opinion on buying investment properties in Pittsburgh? I've read good things but would like the unbiased opinions of others. Any suggestions on specific neighborhoods would be appreciated. I live in the Boston and am looking for more affordable markets. Thanks.
