@Wayne Brooks makes sense about re/max and kw. i can't imagine companies like redfin follow that same franchisee model, though. I'm guessing they just employ a number of managing brokers in each location.

I'm wondering how multi-state brokerages work. For instance, I'm assuming Redfin is a brokerage in all 50 states. Does that simply mean they employ managing brokers in all 50 states? Or is there something special about their corporate entity?
