Hi, I am looking to start a property management company in the Boston area. Does anyone have any tips or advice on reaching potential clients, marketing, or anything in general? Any help is wicked appreciated! Currently taking RE classes right now to get my agent license and looking into a PM certification, always looking for any advice!

Hi, I am starting a PM company around a Boston and am looking for any feedback. I am very confused on wether I need a RE brokers license or not, is my understanding correct in I do not need one to start the company but do need a RE license for the actual leasing and renting activities? When looking it up it seems like MA is one of the only states not requiring a brokers license. Very confused as to what I need for a license! Can I continue studying for my test take the RE agent test in September and be all set (while outsourcing the leasing to an agent for now) or do I need to wait until I am licensed and also hired by a broker? Any marketing tips or helpful hints on starting out is always appreciated too!! Always on the lookout for more marketing strategies and good ways for potential growth! Thank you!

@Jaysen Medhurst I’m a beginner so not too sure, definitly not looking to be in the middle of nowhere or anything like that, but genuinely am willing to go where the money takes me. Wherever the prices are best and rent ratios are good. If I hate living there it’s only a year ! I would love an area where I continue to invest over the next few years.

Best place in the US to start investing in cheap multi family homes? Where’s the best affordable markets in the US? Most growth potential/quality of life/property prices and taxes/rent prices/population increases/low current property prices/ etc etc

@Jaysen Medhurst

Thoughts on southwestern CT? Has me interested being close to NY and all (new haven - Bridgeport area) have definitly put thought into northern RI and Southern Maine and New Hampshire but none of those areas seem to offer the options, affordability and rent prices as western mass and CT for me. I’m currently 19 and have some options in front me for the next few years, plan on following the money wherever it takes me!

@Jaysen Medhurst the million dollar question! I have basically accepted that for the next few years I may have to bounce around a bit and I’d like to pick one area (say around Hartford or Springfield but I agree not in the actual area) that I start investing in and possibly invest heavily with several properties in the area over the next few years but the issue is I love Boston and love being near the city. Any suggestions to the issue! around western mass or near Hartford ct seems to be cheapest and with good rental rates! I’ll go where the money takes me, At least for a little bit!

Where do you suggest investing in New England? Looking for the cheapest place in New England to buy multi families with good rent return, good quality of life, population growth, not a terrible tenant pool and somewhere to be approved for FHA (only a 200k loan) currently looking around Hartford CT, and Springfield Massachusetts. Any advice on property taxes, or anything else about any markets in New England for a beginner investor is very helpful!
