Looks like I have a TON of posts to catch up on, I learn more from these kind of posts than any other, thanks for the heads up!

Hey James,

I'm just starting out also, over in Greensboro. I have a few friends going to ECU for PA school, it's a pretty cool area. Best of luck to you!

I've been living in Greensboro for the past 1.5 years (was in Chapel Hill the previous 4) and have finally gotten around to getting more serious about investing in real estate. Like the other hot areas in NC, The Triad never really got hit by the housing bust the rest of the country did, growth has just slowed down over the past few years. There are a lot of colleges in the area which provide A LOT of rental opportunities (if college tenants are your thing.) I'm looking at the downtown areas right now since I don't have any of my own money to invest yet and there are a decent amount of foreclosures, FSBO's and abandoned houses to choose from. It's tough for me to network since I can't make the local REIA meetings but thanks especially to this site, I'm learning all I can while I search for a mentor to get some hands on experience with. I'm happy to travel and provide cheap labor on the weekends if any of you are interested. Best of luck to everyone!

Hey Skye, I lived in Chapel Hill for a few years and I'm out in Greensboro, still in the analysis paralysis phase but hopefully getting started soon. How did you first dive in to the investing arena?

Hey Brandon! I just checked out your site, you've put together a pretty awesome resource yourself and I'll be learning a lot from you in the near future. That's great advice on finding the right mentor, I'll be putting that to use immediately! I'll definitely be in contact, especially to go over a potential first deal. Thanks again!

Fred, I attended the seminar that Shanequa is talking about last week and it was a waste of 2 hours. The entire seminar is covered in the beginner posts/articles on this site and they're just trying to upsell people on a 3 day seminar that's "on special" for $200. I might just be cheap but it wasn't worth my time and I'm extremely new to investing. Just my $.02 though!

And I'm also in NC, feel free to get in touch!
