Welcome to the BiggerPockets forums!

I just bought "Multi-Family Millionaire" and was disappointed. Granted, I've invested in multi-family before and didn't expect a lot of new information, but frankly it's the same information you get with any basic investing book. It's as if Brandon took his previous information and slapped a new title on it. It's a common tactic in book publishing these days, just like Hal Elrod's 50 different versions of "The Miracle Morning" which could easily be condensed into a 20-page pamphlet but instead he takes the same information and "customizes it" for single moms, Christians, plumbers, people missing more than two fingers, etc.

If you haven't read any books yet, I think you'll do fine with Brandon's latest or his original since they both contain the same basic information. I personally like "The Unofficial Guide to Real Estate Investing" by Spencer Strauss. I also recommend "Every Landlord's Legal Guide" by NOLO which teaches you how to be a Landlord, gives you sample forms, has a great website with additional information, and it points you directly to your state laws.

Thank you so much I will look into it!

Howdy y'all,

I am currently looking for a duplex- quadplex to buy north of Dallas,Texas. I am about to get married and the plan is my fiancé and I  will live in one unit and rent out the other units. This will be our first time ever buying real estate.

Question 1. Should I buy the The Multifamily Millionaire, Volume 1 or should I buy "Real Estate by the numbers" to educate myself.

Question 2.  Do y'all have any advice or think I should do something different.

Thank you for your help and wisdom.
