I've been looking for a deal on a fix and flip in my area, but it seems like everything I look at either costs too much or needs too much work, or both. Should I be doing something other than searching Zillow for deals?

Rich dad says fail faster! The faster you fail, the faster you will succeed! You are on the right track to REI success!

Education is great, but there is so much free education here on BP and elsewhere that you could read and listen to it all day everyday and never run out. Support BP members if you want to spend money on some good E-books. But if you want to get started with REI and have no money, just remember you are 17 years old and you have a great head start to learn as much as you want if you start now and never give up on your dream. If you are working and earning money, save it till you have enough to put a deposit on a property, don't give it to a guru who will leave you high and dry. Learn as much as you can and then find investors who believe in you and your dream. (Parents, family, friends) to start and then anyone you might know who has money to invest. You will need to bring something to the table, so education will be a good asset to start. Try to get some other tools of the trade like maybe learn how to do home repairs, (plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting) you can get a job working as a helper for a local home improvements company or see if you could help out a local REI investor in exchange for showing you the ropes. Just try to learn as much as you can for free or for pay, before you pay for an expensive program. Good luck @Phillip Joo

@Ilona Kovacs I've decided to pass on the Rich Dad coaching. I you check out @J Scott website 123 Flip, it has tons of great info, also find a good Realtor who works with investors but is willing to help you get started, also go to your local REI meet ups and network with some other seasoned investors to see if you can find a mentor. Also come back here and ask as many questions as needed before you do anything you're not 100% sure of. That's what I've been doing and I'm feeling much more confident about doing a deal that wont flop now! I hope this helps and keep learning and don't give up no matter what! Welcome to BP.

I know my wife isn't happy about me not getting my RE license with her, but since my daughter is going to do it with her, she is a little happier, but I think she still wants me to go too. I was also considering going just for the education.

thank again @Dashon Jones I'm thinking more along the lines of being there to help my wife out if she needs it when she's at work and I guess buying and selling wouldn't be so bad!
