Wow Stephen! Great post, it's encouraging to hear about people who stuck with it and by continuing to not quit all that hard work paid off!! If you had quit the bank, the seller, and your buyers probably would not be in as good of shape as they currently are. I hope you relaxed for at least a little bit after all that hard work!

Wow man! I thought I was young getting in at 23. Then I see this post, you're 17 and working to flip and putting in work to make it in this business. Super inspiring, keep it up! I would love to know more about what inspired you to get into real estate. Maybe a picture of this bathroom you built!

I read the Little Red Book of selling recently and it suggested doing a talk at a local event/club about a subject that you are passionate about. At the end you offer a free handout to people in the audience in exchange for their business card or contact info.

The theory is you get a few warm leads of people who know who you are and these people think you add value to their life in some way, which is why they picked up your handout in the first place.

His example was he did a speech about his kids and then his hand out was the "10 things my kids taught me". It sounds solid in theory but I haven't tried it out... Yet.

Bigger pockets, along with other websites, does something similar to get people to sign up. They offer the ultimate beginners guide and other resources for free if you sign up. It worked on me, I'd never turn down a free book.

Wow guys thanks for the warm welcome!! Getting these emails throughout the day has kept me excited! I will most definitely be following all of your instructions on how to find a meet up group and I'll take you guys up on your offers and PM you. It's really astounding to see such a diverse group of people on this one post, everywhere from wholesalers to flippers to property managers to lenders. This really is an amazing website!

How's it going BP?!? I'm new to the site and real estate in general. I'm located in Dallas, TX specifically Oak Lawn. I grew up in Keller (north of Fort Worth) so DFW is my home town. I graduated college in May 2015 with an engineering degree. Since I am good with computers and technology in general I decided to get a job as a software engineer so far I enjoy programming since I get excited by solving complicated puzzles in unique ways.

My biggest goal in life right now is to have enough savings to be financially independent by the time I'm 30 (7 years from now). I plan to reach this goal by living below my means and 'stashing the difference. In the past few months that I've been working towards this goal I've been investing most of my saving in stocks, I would like to expand my portfolio to Real Estate soon (next 2 years). When I'm not working at my day job I'm reading, writing, listening to podcasts, biking, hiking/camping, following hockey (go Stars!), and playing board games with my friends.

As far as real estate goes for me I don't have much experience but I am trying to gain it as fast as possible. Currently I am reading anything I can get my hands on (books, blogs, forum discussions, etc), listening to the BP podcast daily and practicing analyzing deals I find on Zillow and Trulia. In the future I would be interested in investing in Multifamily, since I'm a young single guy house hacking sounds right up my alley. SFR also appeals to me. Flipping would be cool too since I like building things but currently I am seeking passive income, maybe this will change in the future.

I would be interested in attending a meet-up in Dallas, I don't know if there is one of those that happen on a regular schedule. If there is please let me know because I would be excited to attend! If there isn't a regular meet-up I would love to individually meet anyone who is interested, maybe run some deals I have analyzed by you (to get feedback I don't think any of them are good deals though), go driving for dollars with you or any other cool real estate thing you do and want help/company with, it's all new to me so I'm excited. Thanks for reading BP and have a good evening!
