@Matthew Kreitzer  Really appreciate the info! I'll be meeting with a CPA real soon.

@Jake Hottenrott Much appreciated! And just a quick question: Can I legally start a business and just have it sit there without any cash inflow/revenue?

Is it advisable to legally structure your company before pursuing any REI ventures? Or should someone get a couple of deals under their belt before incorporating?

On a side note, I do plan to talk to an attorney and CPA soon for legal advice, but I just wondering what some of you did before starting out.

Thanks,

Nestor

@Tristan S. @Nick Paredes I really appreciate the advice. I'm a member of my local REIA and lifestyle unlimited, but will definitely check out the others. And just a quick question for you all: I'm currently attending a 3 day event at my local REIA and so far it's been amazing and very informative. But somewhere along the lines they mentioned a sort of direct mentoring program-essentially a shortcut-that's guaranteed and proven to work. And I'm over here getting worked up and excited until he mentioned the price of the program. Boohoo, right? There is no way in hell I could afford the program, especially being a broke college student. And, by the way, I understand the importance and value of a mentor/coach and I know nobody will really mentor you for free. But does it really come down to extreme measures to find a mentor? Because I'd much rather network like hell and/or split profits 50/50 or 25/75 for a seasoned investors' wisdom and guidance.

Hi everyone!

My name is Nestor, and I'm a beginner/n00b REI from the NW side of Houston, TX. Currently a full-time student and salesman at Best Buy. I became interested in REI, particularly in wholesaling and buy-and-hold rentals after stumbling upon BP's book on rental property investing (which, sadly I have not finished yet) and Phil Pustejovsky's videos on YT. Wholesaling is what I'm specifically allocating most of time studying, but ultimately I plan to achieve true long term wealth through rental properties. And while I don't have any true credibility and transactions under my belt yet, I'll be more than happy to share my experience and information that I will learn through not only attending my local REIA and networking meetings, but really getting out there and getting my feet wet. I look forward to meeting many of you and learning from your indirect mentoring! Oh, and thanks to BP for the opportunity of becoming a member. The information you provide is truly invaluable.

Thanks,

Nestor C.
