Thanks Hai.  Hello Neesh.  You do NOT need more than 1 furnace for your triplex.

The City of Kitchener is big on intensification and is allowing 3 units in almost all areas of Kitchener with the exception of being close to Conestoga college in the south end.  They don't want it to become all student homes so that is why that area is limited.

You can find a lot of information on kitchener.ca with regards to zoning and the requirements for Triplex.  And you would have to have your building adhere to Fire Codes and the Ontario Building code.

Best wishes!

@ roycleeves thanks so much! We are R5 zoned so we are all good with zoning. I've been on the kitchener website at length and while I've found a ton of information on duplex conversions nothing seems to speak specifically to a triplex or larger. Do you know where exactly these docs would be? Also any contractors you like for these sort of conversions would be great

In the K-W area and purchased a duplex. Wondering if I should convert into a triplex. Anyone know the additional building code requirements that may be necessary for this conversion or where I can find this info. For e.g. I know with a duplex only one furnace is necessary.  Will this change if I decide on a triplex instead? Thanks!

Hi Quang, were you able to connect with Mat? I'd love to as well! We just bought our first property in K-W
