Have you considered doing a syndication? Its a lot more work than just getting hard money but its an attractive option for investors. The downside is you must register it as an exempt security. 

CCIM is a great recourse for sure as well as a few online schools. I believe Cornell has something as well. I would say one of the most important things is get with a CRE broker that knows the market you are interested in as well as a commercial lender. Lending is very different from residential and in this market its almost impossible to to office and multi family. Industrial and retail are the hot ticket items right now.
