Post: Using a HELOC to buy investment property

I would like to know which strategy is better when using a HELOC to buy investment property. Is it better to use the money from a HELOC just for a down payment on a property or should I be using it to buy the property out right? Which makes more sense when trying leverage but also pay back the money that was borrowed?

Thank you in advance!

Nate

@Todd Dexheimer Hi Todd,

Thank you for your response. I was planning on using the BRRRR strategy on multi unit property. Best opinion IMO?

Thoughts on using a HLEOC to buy first property. Should it be a fix and flip or BRRRR?

Thanks!

So my relative is gifting me a property. Have no idea how that process works or how much it could cost?

Looking to keep property in family but rehab and rent out. Owner currently owes under 15k on property but looking to pay off in lump sum before gifting.

Is this Brrrr strategy applicable here minus the “Buy”?

Thank you all helps!

:)

Hey BP friends!

I appreciate all the great advice and feedback you’ve given me this far! I am taking it all in can be overwhelming at times but I’m trying to keep a steady consistent pace... my question is I am just starting out I am having some trouble figuring out whether I want to Brrrr for my first property or house hack. I don’t have a ton of capital but I work my *** off and I am trying to know if there are any good tips for me when analyzing property. Also I’ve connected with a few investors that currently flip I want to know how I can add value to them!

Thanks again!

Nate

I am seeking opportunities to BRRRR but am having trouble analyzing deals. I know to most people this may sound dumb but that is what I feel has been holding me back from cracking the seal of real estate investing. Rehab and flip is the strategy I want to go with I am just missing a piece to this puzzle here. Any suggestions, spread sheet example, Etc. regarding analyzing that anyone can share would be greatly appreciated! Happy thanksgiving BP friends!! Nate

@Jacob Chapman hi Jacob, thank you for reaching out to me. So this property is the one I currently live in but the house is in my mothers house she was thinking about trying to start fix and flip she’s unfamiliar with the process I have more famIlIarIty than she does as I have done a ton of research and have been a BP member for some tIme. I am not worried about making money more interested in learning by getting Involved and obviously helping my mother. :)
