@Andrew Harrell I have not considered Indiana but I don’t live too far from there now so could be an option too.

@Eric Michaels to be clear, a good neighborhood doesn’t just mean Lincoln Park or anywhere on the north side of Chicago. I’m aware those areas are high priced. And I do plan on running numbers and not relying on the realtor to tell me whats a good deal.

@Andrew Harrell that’s exactly my plan! I’ve got some pre-approvals in the fire and my down payment already. The most challenging part for me is going to be running the numbers and analyzing the deal but I have people I can lean on for that and then there’s always here ☺️

@Alina Trigub thank you! That’s on my todo list to start building my list of contacts. I have a realtor and mortgage broker so far but I have connects with others that are already in the game that I can leverage. Thanks for your help!

@Knifie Burks thanks Knifie. I am open to expanding my search to outside of the city so if I can’t find anything that works where I’m looking I’ll start searching in the burbs. I just want to live in one unit and rent of the others and have it cash flow without me paying much of anything.

@Brie Schmidt thanks Brie that is helpful. I’m trying to stick to the south side where I know such as bronzeville, Woodlawn, south shore but I’m concerned about vacancies in those areas. If that’s the price point for the area you cover that is out of my range. I think.

@Andrew Harrell thanks for the response. I am working with a realtor but still building trust and wanted to ask this group just to get a feel so I’m not being taken advantage of being new to this.

What’s a reasonable price range for a multi unit (3-4) in Chicago area? Is 250k to low for a good neighborhood? What was your price range starting out?
