Hello,

I'm looking to work with/learn from an experienced, seasoned local real estate investor in the SF Bay Area. I currently work full-time in commercial real estate as an Assistant Real Estate Manager, managing class A office buildings in the East Bay. I'd love to work with a seasoned investor during my off hours (evenings and weekends).

I'm interested in buy and hold rental properties, SFR and multi-family, and hope to get some practice finding and analyzing potential deals. I'm also happy to help with any administrative tasks, going out to look for deals, managing properties, etc. I live in Contra Costa County, so the East Bay is my preference, but open to helping out remotely and going to other parts of the Bay on the weekends.

Some background on myself - I have my BS in Business Admin, concentration in financial economics, I have a CA real estate agent license, and I've worked in commercial real estate for about 3.5 years, managing R&D and office buildings. I grew up "househacking" with my family in their 4plex and have always been interested in having my own investment properties.

Even if it does not turn into an ongoing relationship, I'd love to meet over coffee and just pick an investor's brain a bit.

Thanks for the responses. Is anyone a part of a local REI meet up/networking group or willing to meet over the phone/coffee? I'd love to get connected with some experienced investors and other real estate professionals to discuss the Sacramento market or any other potential markets, their experiences, etc.

Going to my first viewing next week to see a duplex with a cottage in the back. I've a first time buyer and I'm investor. I'm looking to house back, while renting the other units. I'm just starting out and want to get and idea of what's on the market. What are a few things to look for and important questions to ask during a showing? I also plan to drive around the area afterwards. Any key things to keep an eye out for in the surrounding area? Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Post: New Investor in SF Bay Area - East Bay

Hi!

I'm a SF Bay Area native from Hayward, CA. I'm 25 years old, currently working in commercial real estate as an Assistant Real Estate Manager. I'd like to begin investing in 2- to 4-unit multi-family in the East Bay - Contra Costa County, ideally while househacking.

I was introduced to real estate investing by my parents, who own a fourplex in which we currently househack. Currently, I live with them rent-free (lucky me!) while I save for my first investment. Growing up as a househacker, my dad kept my involved with the property - dealing with tenants, maintenance, expenses, etc. The exposure has definitely helped me in my full-time job.

I've been listing to BP podcasts for a few months now and am now looking to network, learn from other's experience, and possibly find a real estate investment mentor. I'd like to make my first purchase within the next 1.5 years, if not less, and am trying to gain as much knowledge as possible before I dive in.

Please reach out to me if you'd like to connect!

Myrna

I'm 25 years old and currently live in the SF Bay Area at home with my parents, taking advantage of the free rent while I save up for my first purchase. Would it be best to first purchase my own home where I will live, or an investment property? Ideally, I'd like to househack with a duplex, triplex or fourplex. Where might be a good place to start to determine how much more savings I might need or other financing options?
