I think @Leslie Pappas brings up some good points, lots of regulations to consider when building a syndicate.

@Eli Freedman if you decide to take that course be sure to let us know what you think!

Agree with @Leslie Pappas, investing in DSTs is a great way to start and it's truly passive. I've been doing A LOT of research the past several months and found there are benefits of DSTs that for me beat out other REI alternatives.

Hi @Bob Malecki, would you recommend this symposium for a newbie like myself?

Even though I'm looking to invest passively (in a note fund or jointly with a manager/advisor), I am interested in learning more about the business, just for my own risk protection. Maybe I just answered my own question ;-)

Hi everyone. I'm a new member and just want to say that this site has been extremely helpful for my learning process.

The past week or so I've been doing some research on mortgage note and syndicate investing. For those that have some knowledge and background, what are the best ways to perform your due diligence on your note/syndicate investment advisor/strategist? What's on your checklist?

BTW I know this doesn't replace looking into the details of the property; neighborhood, any tax liens, property insurance up to date, mortgage payment history, borrower's situation, etc.

Thanks!

TRUE turnkey providers know how to make the investment process as easy and hands-off as possible.  Buying from a company the provides TRUE turnkey service means that the property is already tenanted and cash flowing, all maintenance and management processes are already in place, they pay the bills and send you the cash flow each month.  Investors who partner with these companies will discover that the amount of ongoing time or effort required from the investor is minimal.  For investors that are out of state or busy with other interests, it's the perfect way to get into real estate without the hassle and headache.

Hi @Adam Bontrager, which TRUE turnkey provider would you recommend?

Hi everyone, my name is Michael and I'm a buy and hold real estate investor in San Diego. Currently have three properties in three different states. My wife and I are looking to get more serious with our real estate business and achieve solid growth in the next several years. Our goals are mostly cash flow right now.

I'm looking to learn more about different investment strategies, how to identify good properties, how other investors structure their asset protection (LLCs vs Trusts vs Umbrella Insurance) and stay updated on trends in the market.
