@James Wise and @Justin Tahilramani,

Good catch on my post and let me correct myself (rookie mistake).  We didn't pay the commission, the seller did, but we feel like that could have been a negotiating point for us if we had an agent willing to do the "formalities" for a lesser commission when we found the property.  In the end, we're paying in some way, right?  It's good to hear you say that commissions are always negotiable.  We're thinking we should negotiate this with our agent but don't want to feel like we're coming from left field on this.  Just have to pose as a good business decision for both parties.

My biz partners and I found a house on the MLS and used an agent to make a cash offer, which was accepted and we paid 3% commission. I don't mean any disrespect to agents, but we can't help but feel like the 3% was overpaying for this. We're new and maybe that's just the deal we all have to accept. Any thoughts on this? Do investors often negotiate this cost down for purchases like this where the agent played a small part in the process?

Thanks @Brandon Turner, I appreciate the welcome.  I'm a big fan of the podcast, so thanks for putting great content out there every week, it's awesome.  If we're ever in same city, would love to buy you coffee, lunch, or whatever and chat.

Thanks Lance.  We do have a realtor and GC in our network but we're always glad to meet more great people.  Are you a realtor or GC?

Thanks Al, I appreciate it.  I remember listening to your podcast probably a year ago.  I'll have to check it out again since I just reviewed the notes and saw you spoke about syndicating a rental property.  My partners and I would like to do similar as we gain experience and credibility.

Hello everyone,

I've been listening to the podcast for some time now, soaking up all the info I could get while reading various RE books that were suggested.  I've admittedly been very slow to get into the forums as I've never really used a forum before and don't completely know what to expect from it.  I get the concept, just haven't ever put it into practice, but looking forward to getting the value that I always hear about.

I live in Centennial, CO and have started a real estate investment company with two partners, @Chad Murray and @Brandon Gebers, who are located in Dallas, TX.  The three of us have been talking about starting this for sometime now and finally just purchased our first fix and flip property in NW Dallas about two weeks ago.  We look forward to many more and want to grow our business to hold rental assets as well.

The three of us are excited to meet more people in the BP community to learn from all of you and share anything we can to help others.
