I  vacant land and now interested in developing in new construction 2-4 unit on the Southside in the Auburn Gresham area. I've been doing lots of research. Can anyone assist with the process on getting started, permits that need to be pulled, new construction builders, etc.?

@Lumi Ispas Thanks for that information. I'm definitely going to apply for the lot I just wanted to see if and how beneficial it would be in the long run. Always thinking about long term...Also Lumi what type of real investing do you do? 

Though I'm starting to get back into residential, my ultimate goal is commercial and looking for mentors or people that can give me more insight about the REI. I recently received my paralegal certificate, so want to learn more about real estate transactions and legality of it all.

Currently Chicago has a program where property owners can purchase vacant lots for $1 within a block radius of their property owned. Of course you have to maintain the property, pay property taxes and keep it surrounded with a non-combustible fence. Another stipulation is that you have to hold the property for 5 years before being able to sale.

Currently they are offering this in the neighborhood where I own rental property(south side of Chicago) and I am really interested in applying but wondering if this would be beneficial in the long run.

Also if I wanted to build a home or multi unit building on this property, how expensive would this be?

Thanks Curt. I have family members that work in plumbing, electrician, etc. And wanted to confirm hiring someone that does complete rehabs versus separate individuals doing the job?
