Post: Always Invest Outside of Los Angeles as a Newbie?

It seems that most of the time when I'm reading about new investors in Los Angeles, they are doing deals outside of the area. I understand it's very expensive to do deals in LA, but are there any other reasons aside from cost? Is this a good rule to follow as a new investor in LA - or should you just follow your connections/leads/opportunities and see what works whether it's in the area or not.

Great question - I've always wondered about these signs as well.

My name is Serj Kalfayan and I live in the LA area. I have a background in finance/accounting and currently work as an accountant. I've found that RE is really a passion of mine and am slowly taking steps to make that dream a reality.

I have currently set up a mentor relationship with the owner of a very successful commercial REI firm in the Orange County area and am very excited to start down the road of learning and growing. I look forward to being a part of this community and discussing/sharing some of the lessons I'm on track to learn.

I'm also new and in the Los Angeles area. Great to see someone else starting out in a similar position!
