Post: Real Estate Liscensing

I am very interested in this subject. I've been debating whether I should go to Real Estate school and get my liscence. I've read some of ya'lls posts about how realtors really don't have anything to do with investing. Would getting my liscence help me know more in this field or is there another way to get educated on this subject? (besides read this blog...)

Here's a question I have. Is there something where I could get an investor to give me a loan for the price of the house and the cost of some repairs? I should probably know the answer to that... I got preapproved for a loan but the interest rate is high and I needed maybe a little bit for just repairs when I move into the house. I didn't really want to get a small loan just for that. So if I could find someone to loan me a lump sum for all the expenses that would be great.. And it would be great if I could get a lower interest rate. I have really good credit. And I'm going to keep looking for a better loan. I just thought I'd ask. I didnt' know where I should post this. I really wanted to ask Amarillo people because you can tell me where specifically to go.
THANKS!

Ok, I'll try to make it. I might be a little intimidated by all of you who know everything about this. But I would love to just come and listen. It's all very interesting to me... :D

Sometime's I like to explore those vacant buildings, because some of the doors are open, and we found one building, it's across the ally from acapulco restaurant. It's a parking garage, but on the top floor it looks like there might be condos up there. Do you know anything about that?
This is all very interesting. Thanks for letting me know about that. I guess I'll be watching the development... There will be alot of exciting things coming, whenever someone decides to start the movement... :D

Has anyone heard of selling Fully furnished/decorated houses?
This is more a higher end kind of investment, with carefully thought out design (not just mixmatched furniture or things you might find in a hotel or something).
I'm sure this is common and there is probably an official term that is used when referring to it. But I heard of a lady in Kansas, where my parents live, who buys property. Hires out, or has her husband do the hard labor and renovations. And she paints, finds furniture, designs/decorates the houses. And sells them fully furnished and decorated. This is something I would be very interested in. I love real estate investing. I LOVE decorating. And I'm not so familiar or capable of the renovation side of it. This might be an interesting partner idea??? I would love to hear you thoughts on this subject. And if you think it would even be a good idea.

Well, I wish Amarillo would hurry and get there. It's like the rest of the world gets it. We almost have it. With the new theatre coming and some of the restaurants going in. But I guess people don't view it as a place to live yet. I see such potential in some of those buildings. That is something to think about. I don't think it would be very successful to try and sell property right now, downtown, but it sure would be fun to live in for a while. Do you know anything about the supposed lofts going in? I heard they are supposed to be renovating that old building for lofts, but I haven't seen any changes on it in a few months. Well.. I guess I'll keep my eye out. I just thought it might be good to buy the property now before it takes off. That way I could make a larger proffit. But I'll keep thinking about it.
I'm still young and a single family property would probably be best for me right now anyways. I love the idea of rehabbing though. :D
Thanks for your input!

I'm from Amarillo. I wanted to see about those clubs too. Is it like a membership thing or can anyone come?

I am currently looking for a property to update. I've been looking at alot of downtown properties, but I dont' know where to get information on them. Alot of them look abandoned and need alot of cosmetic work. But I think they are beautiful. And I know Amarillo has a plan to update downtown, so I thought it would be a good investment... Does anyone know where I could get information on downtown buildings? My real desire is to convert one into a loft. Right now I"m looking for one just for myself. But I thought, if it turned out well, then I might want to invest in this kind of property. Any information would help alot! Thanks!
