My app seems to be working as I on my iPhone 5 now, however, the podcast is loading forever and then stopping. Kinda sucks. Music player is working. Thanx for being on top of it Brandon & Josh. ;-) Ciao, Robbin

Welcome to BiggerPockets Florencio! I'm fairly new to BP as well, but, am loving all the tips and information this site has to offer. The members are incredible. I especially enjoy listening to the podcasts. I'm listening to them in reverse numbered order.

I've heard through one of the podcasts that Texas is currently a great market for real estate. I'd like to get your take on your local market. I'm in California where most deals are out of my price range. Glad you found us!

Ciao,

Robbin

@Ivan Oberon thanks for the info. I guess I have even more things to put in place before I start offering property as a vacation rental.

I wanted to check out multi-family properties in SC and separately, I am also interested in using my residence in California as a vacation rental. I guess (the combination of the two) a vacation rental would work in SC but seems harder to monitor long distance.

So, that this point I'm looking to get familiar with Charleston real estate (neighborhoods, prices, rents, community outlook, etc), when I get there, but most likely won't be jumping into a deal. Looking before I leap is my new motto!

@Jason Bott  @Evan R. @Jay Hinrichs @John Semanchuk  @Elizabeth Colegrove  Thank you to everyone for helping me out. This site is fantastic because of all of you.

Ciao,

Robbi

@Evan R. Thank you for the link to the "Airbnb caught fire" article. That put several items on my To Do List.

What do you mean by "Most insurance companies will not cover your property if it's rented out for 30 days or less." I already have a homeowners' policy as this is my primary residence. I was planning to rent my home for weekends (or 3-4 nights) as a first step. I guess I need to read my policy carefully. Thanks again for your help.

Ciao,

Robbin

Just found this site! It's a really powerful tool. Congrats on 10 years! I've still got about 70 podcasts to go to catch up. ;-)

@John Semanchuk Thank you for your help. I'll check out VRBO.com  Does one need to have special insurance on a property to utilize VRBO.com type rentals? Or anything is anything else required?

@George Wendt I don't know the area. I'll look at the surrounding cities. I just want to get a feel for real estate there, so, I'll know where to look when I visit.

@George Wendt Interested in Charleston, because I can't afford much in California. I needed to get an idea of which neighborhoods to check out. I was thinking in terms of a standard monthly rental. What happens to the vacation homes in the off season?

@John Semanchuk Yes, I'm looking for cash flow.

@Elizabeth Colegrove  Glad to hear that you're doing what I'm thinking of doing. Therefore, I'm not crazy!

I will be in South Carolina in November and plan to check out residential income property. I don't know the area. Any suggestions would be helpful, neighborhoods, local professionals, etc.  I'm looking for cash flow.

I'm in a former real estate appraiser and live in California. I currently have one 4-unit residential property. I'm new to Bigger Pockets, but am loving all the resources it offers.

Thanks in advance. Ciao, Robbin
